Celebrate the release of THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES series with Amherst authors Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, local children’s bookstore High Five Books, and time-honored community institution Jones Library! On Saturday, April 20, 6-8pm, in the Woodbury Room at the main branch of the Jones Library in Amherst, readers are invited to watch the first episode of THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES on Roku, attend an author Q&A session with Tony and Holly, and have books signed. The #1 New York Times bestselling book series recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and was previously adapted as a successful feature film and video game. THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES will be the first-ever original series from Roku, America’s #1 streaming platform, and is bound to capture the hearts of a new generation, immersing viewers in the story of siblings discovering a field guide which leads to a parallel world of magic, fantasy, danger, and menace. Imagination is a world of possibility that exists within each of us. It is what makes us uniquely human. It is our creative fingerprint that touches and influences the world around us. Imagination is essential to art and science; to innovation and prosperity. It gives us hope, calls us to action and leads to change.

Whether it’s fairies, dragons, robots or aliens, all of my children’s book characters are siblings born of my imagination – an imagination strengthened through years of encouragement from family, teachers and friends. While so many others abandoned it during their transition from childhood to adulthood, I fiercely held onto mine, hoping for a day when I could share it to inspire the next generation of dreamers. Innovators. World changers.

Imagination empowers us to envision and create a reality of what could be. We must hold it dear, foster it and never abandon it.
